October IInd, MMXVII

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Executive Dissertations picks a day, any day in history & you can learn so much.

A. In MDXXXV (1535) famous explorer Jacques Cartier discovered what is now present day Montreal.

B. French King Louis XIIIth declared an adult at age XIII (13) in MDCXIV (1614.)

C. Ist U.S. President George Washington, Independent-Virginia sends the proposed Constitutional amendments to the States to be ratified, this would include the U.S. Bill of Rights in MDCCLXXXIX (1789.)

D. In MDCCCLXVI (1866), Inventor J. Osterhoudt patents the tin can with key opener.

E. XXVIIIth U.S. President Thomas Woodrow Wilson, Democratic-New Jersey has a stroke in MCMXIX (1919) that leaves him partly paralyzed. The XXXth Ist Lady Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, Democratic-New Jersey assumed some presidential duties when really XXVIIIth U.S. Vice-President Thomas Riley Marshall, Democratic-Indiana (who was elected) should have been given some "acting" presidential powers. Interestingly enough, Mr. Marshall was the only U.S. VP to ever have an assassination plot planned against him outright but not carried out.

F. In MMIX (2009), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, South America is elected as the host city of the MMXVI (2016) Games Of The Olympiad for Summer as well as the Paralympics.

Historical Fascination,

Rory
