The Islamic Factor

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

December XVIIIth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

To say that your caucus colleague the Hon. Irfan Sabir, MLA, Minister of Human Services, New Democratic, Calgary-McCall is beyond useless & weak in the portfolio would be an understatement. Furthermore, he should have never have been put in the portfolio in the first place. However, Rachel won't remove him because:

A. She doesn't want to risk losing the Muslim vote of Calgary, nor does she want to lose the vote of the refugee family sponsors. Also, she doesn't want to lose the vote of the Syrian refugees who applied for citizenship a year ago who will become Canadian citizens in two years after being here a year now. Plus, many are now going to go on Alberta welfare rolls with federal assistance programs running out, so obviously would vote for whatever government is in power that is issuing them the cheques.

     - I emphasize this point strictly on a technical basis, not to incite any form of religious infighting or bigotry. After all, you can go into a Service Alberta office if you are a Syrian refugee with no appointment & get immediate assistance, while Albertans with appointments have to wait, & sometimes don't get seen that day, if at all. I have seen it myself at various offices as have others who have told me, so there is no denying the fact.

B. She cannot appoint Sandra Jansen, M. Comm., MLA, New Democratic, Calgary-North West as she blew any & good will by making her departure as Leader of "The Sandra Party" about herself, rather than keeping the focus on Serenity, the dead four year old child who was moved out of the news headlines after less than 24 hours by the "poor women in politics schtick." Not that this is not important but the progressives overdo it. I'm a guy & I've faced a lot lot worse than Sandy with my high-functioning autism or Aspergers Syndrome difficulties. She makes what $180,000.00 a year, I don't feel sorry for her at all.

C. She cannot appoint Anam Kazim, MLA, New Democratic, B. Eng, M. Eng., Calgary-Glenmore as Muslim men, especially Imams in mosques will not tolerate a Muslim woman with no headdress being in the cabinet.

D. She cannot appoint a person of the Jewish persuasion to neutralize & split off the department as it would weaken her even further. It has to be someone completely neutral. Perhaps Deborah Drever, B. A., MLA, New Democratic, Calgary-Bow might be a good fit. After all, her bill while an Indy MLA allowing partners to break leases without financial penalty & the loss of their damage deposit when facing domestic abuse situations was quite popular & well constructed.

E. Rachel will as she says split the portfolio & keep Irfan in the role of running the administration aspects, while appointing one or two new cabinet members to run the children & family sections. Of course making Irfan an Associate Minister so he gets only 1/2 a vote at the cabinet table would be a positive first step. While a demotion, Irfan would still have associated cabinet power & thus would be able to save face in his community & with Albertans in general.

Allah, Muhammed, Yahweh, Jesus Christ, Buddha, & All Religious Faith Leaders Be Praised,

Rory
