"A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand!"-Mr. Peters

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

December XXXIst, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Congressman Scott Peters of California finishes off MMXVI for Executive Disserations with a comment on funding education for nursing students, who really work the front lines in health care.

"Nurses are on the front lines of health care providing essential & lifesaving care to millions of Americans every day."

Springfield, Ohio,

Rory

Source: Congressional Representative Scott Peters, Democratic-California, The LIInd District.

Note: Once Scott Peters called an openly gay opponent a derogatory term of "Mary" to make fun of the man's sexuality. But he got away with it because he's a left-wing Democrat so the media refuses to report on it. That is not right! Down in the States I'd be a Republican & I don't approve of such remarks of gay & LGBTQ/transgender folks, a real reporting double standard!

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Here at the Lois Hole Edmonton Public Library (EPL) Branch, maintenance crews are letting students off from school watch them put a very nice vinyl pattern indicating the "Children's" section around one of the central hall concrete polls. In addition to promoting art, the EPL crews are showing the students how to put the wrap on safely & should truly be commended for it. Plus, these students might want to get into the maintenance & construction trades themselves some day so it gives them some first-hand visual experience.

Dear Dave:

It would sure be nice if Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown, Democratic-California were to grant a double State Funeral to the former Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) & her Hollywood golden age movie queen mother Debbie Reynolds. This would truly give fans of science fiction & the two ladies many other amazing works a chance to say goodbye. Carrie being a great friend of YEG's by attending the Edmonton Comic Book Expo just this past September with that rock star in her house Gary The Dog Fisher who completely upstaged his mom! And how eerie is it that R2D2 the beloved Kenny Baker who hid the plans so well also died this year?!

Querido Dave:

It truly is an amazing thing when you walk into a library, such as this Edmonton Public Library (EPL) Branch today here at Jasper Place. A group of students is starting there day looking up basic books for beginners level Spanish, which is wise as they are headed to Madrid, Espana for an exchange field trip next month. Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA

Dear Dave:

Why are school lunches not always of the best quality? When I have chatted on Autism & Aspergers Syndrome (which I have) in the past to students at schools & their families so autistic kids know they are valuable & understood, I have noticed how poor the cafeteria food can be. Sometimes it is pizza, sometimes other greasy foods. It is not always fruits & vegetables like one would expect. I mean who better than I to make these talks, a disaffected person myself? If I'm willing to talk, I want a healthy breakfast or lunch, not fried & unappealing options.

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA

Dear Dave:

Why in schools do lockers vary in condition so badly? I am aware that this might fall partially into the infrastructure side of things but I was in a school in northeast Edmonton a week & a half ago for a Christmas concert & the lockers were falling apart, rusting hinges, metal pieces of the door & the locker edges exposed. In addition to being unsafe, this will make it much easier for thieves to break into students lockers & steal their valuables.

Dear Dave:

Going through St. Albert last week to take an old lady to dialysis at St. Albert Hospital, I noticed that the school zone time frame was different for issuing speed tickets. It is 8am to 4pm in St. Albert, & another jurisdiction down south. While in Edmonton & Calgary it is 8am-4:30pm. Still, some other jurisdictions it's 8am-4:15pm. In others, the start time is at 8:30am. Should Davey it not be the same time stamp in all jurisdictions so as to give drivers & ticket takers a chance an = set of revenues/time to slow down during the course of the Monday-Friday business week?

December XXth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

They say that "timing is everything" in politics & your caucus colleague, the Honourable Lady IV Edmonton-Strathcona, New Democratic, Premier Rachel Notley has it in spades! Her idea to consult on marijuana usage in terms of age once it becomes legal is great. After all, we'll all be so high on carbon fumes come January Ist, that we'll all be too busy to notice!

Option 1: Make the legal age 15. Students can get a learners license at 14, they can get a drivers license at 16, this would seem to be a fair compromise.

Option 2: Make the legal age 17. Students can as I say get a drivers license at 16, & they can vote & buy prescription drugs & lovely assorted alcoholic beverages at 18. So 17 seems like a nice "Solomon-like" decision.

Option 3: Combine the legal age tied in with tobacco & booze & make it 18 across the board.

Note: Some provincial/territorial jurisdictions the legal substance buying/consuming age is 19. So the weed buying/smoking age would have to be set at 19 to be totally fair in those zones.

The Islamic Factor

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

December XVIIIth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

To say that your caucus colleague the Hon. Irfan Sabir, MLA, Minister of Human Services, New Democratic, Calgary-McCall is beyond useless & weak in the portfolio would be an understatement. Furthermore, he should have never have been put in the portfolio in the first place. However, Rachel won't remove him because:

A. She doesn't want to risk losing the Muslim vote of Calgary, nor does she want to lose the vote of the refugee family sponsors. Also, she doesn't want to lose the vote of the Syrian refugees who applied for citizenship a year ago who will become Canadian citizens in two years after being here a year now. Plus, many are now going to go on Alberta welfare rolls with federal assistance programs running out, so obviously would vote for whatever government is in power that is issuing them the cheques.

     - I emphasize this point strictly on a technical basis, not to incite any form of religious infighting or bigotry. After all, you can go into a Service Alberta office if you are a Syrian refugee with no appointment & get immediate assistance, while Albertans with appointments have to wait, & sometimes don't get seen that day, if at all. I have seen it myself at various offices as have others who have told me, so there is no denying the fact.

B. She cannot appoint Sandra Jansen, M. Comm., MLA, New Democratic, Calgary-North West as she blew any & good will by making her departure as Leader of "The Sandra Party" about herself, rather than keeping the focus on Serenity, the dead four year old child who was moved out of the news headlines after less than 24 hours by the "poor women in politics schtick." Not that this is not important but the progressives overdo it. I'm a guy & I've faced a lot lot worse than Sandy with my high-functioning autism or Aspergers Syndrome difficulties. She makes what $180,000.00 a year, I don't feel sorry for her at all.

C. She cannot appoint Anam Kazim, MLA, New Democratic, B. Eng, M. Eng., Calgary-Glenmore as Muslim men, especially Imams in mosques will not tolerate a Muslim woman with no headdress being in the cabinet.

D. She cannot appoint a person of the Jewish persuasion to neutralize & split off the department as it would weaken her even further. It has to be someone completely neutral. Perhaps Deborah Drever, B. A., MLA, New Democratic, Calgary-Bow might be a good fit. After all, her bill while an Indy MLA allowing partners to break leases without financial penalty & the loss of their damage deposit when facing domestic abuse situations was quite popular & well constructed.

E. Rachel will as she says split the portfolio & keep Irfan in the role of running the administration aspects, while appointing one or two new cabinet members to run the children & family sections. Of course making Irfan an Associate Minister so he gets only 1/2 a vote at the cabinet table would be a positive first step. While a demotion, Irfan would still have associated cabinet power & thus would be able to save face in his community & with Albertans in general.

An Interesting Dichotomy

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

December XIIIth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I find it an interesting dichotomy that while the President-Elect,  Mr.Trump has announced that ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson was his choice as Secretary Of State nominee, that I happened to be getting refreshing gasoline & juice from the Esso Associates & Imperial Oil station on 156th Street & 111th Avenue this morning with my Esso Fleet Card from my trade name R. J. Koopmans' Enterprises. When I walked out of the station, two students & their parents handed me my wallet which I dropped. I said thanks & said so your taking mom & dad to school today, what great kids you are, as a joke. They all laughed & the kids said they were home schooled. One because they had learning difficulties in a class setting & the other because the parents objected to the fact that Gay/Straight Alliances (GSAs) were forced on every school, even private ones. Whether you agree Davey or whether you disagree, you must admit that its not unanimous approval of your decision on this matter. I fully back you of course, but others do not. We also know that the carbon tax is a scam & that we need to suck the oil/gas dry & put the coal mines in full throttle operation forever to put all these good Alberta families back to work! Layoffs of good union folks that Rachel's late father Grant Notley would not have put in place!

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I fully agree with the assessment of Alberta Liberal Party executive/operative Rev. William Wade Izzard of the Universal Life Church Canada First Nations Youth Outreach Ministries. Also a potential Federal Liberal Candidate himself in Edmonton-Griesbach or Edmonton-West in MMXIX against either Kerry Diotte, MP, Conservative or Kelly McCauley, MP, Conservative. Wade believes that St. Albert Mayor Nolan Crouse would be a wonderful choice to lead the Alberta Liberals once Dr. David Swann, MD, MLA, Liberal, Calgary-Mountain View stands down. Nolan is:

- A very competent administrator who runs Council like a very tight ship, & is very fair & respected by all. He has a Master's degree in business & was a rather astute resource company executive.

- Nolan keeps getting reelected as Chief Executive by St. Albert citizens as they see he has a steady hand in things & puts citizens needs first. He's not subject to giving into left-wing, artsy-fartsy tax & spend do-nothing special interest groups like Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson & his City Council are.

- His Worship is involved in various charitable endeavours, & is a former hockey coach. So he has very good day-to-day management skills. This would be a tremendous asset in helping the Alberta Liberals gain more traction & break out of their state of almost perpetual inertia. Plus he's be an excellent triple reverse takeover leader of Tories, Wildrose, & Liberals as a Blue Liberal Premier.

- Mr. Crouse is just the kind of quality individual the Alberta Liberals could use if they want to garner more seats electorally in any future provincial election writ. I have always liked & respected Nolan, a very classy & gentlemanly person indeed!

Dear Dave:

Having just assumed the Office of The Premier on December IIIrd,  & meeting with Prime Minister Justine Trudeau, B. A., B. Ed., PC, MP, Liberal, Papineau & the other Premiers today in Ottawa, Premier Sandy Silver of the Yukon Territory gets his own "The "Premier"e League" due to the fact that the CIVth (114th) U. S. Congress is still in office until about Jan VIth, MMXVII or so. Silver seems an appropriate name since the new Premier represents The Klondike, known for many gold rushes. A math teacher by trade, Sandy chats with Yukon math students about mathematically putting the Yukon Liberals in a perfect position to govern, whether they voted for him or not; Sandy knows he must be the Preem for all Yukoners!

"The way we've structured the party fit perfectly for what Yukon needs-a moderate government, a government that allows membership from the left & from the right, consensus-building, actually having a party that models the mosaic of this territory."

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I get U. S. Chairman Of The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Christopher A. Hart to discuss his job. Not only does he try & analyze transportation crashes (like the one that killed Premier Prentice as an example)  he tries to make improvements. Improvements in the transport vehicles in future crashes (which sadly will always occur) in order to minimize death & casualty rates. He explains his job in terms of collaboration.

Retired U. S. Air Force Lieutenant General Jimmy Clapper, who is the U. S. Shovel Ready

December Ist, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Shoveling sidewalks & streets by school sites is definitely important. Especially Dave in & around crosswalks so cars don't inadvertently speed through. To cover off shortages of personnel to clean sidewalks & pathways, why not let people who get speeding tickets in school zones have the option of shoveling a walk say ten times instead of paying their fine. This would clearly improve safety levels in & around educational sites throughout the province.

Shovel This,

It Seems Odd

November XXXth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

It seems odd I know that students are going to have different likes & dislikes. One may like peanut butter, the other may dislike it. i myself enjoyed Social Studies in High School the best, whereas a fellow classmate of mine preferred Mathematics, which I always hated due to my terrible mathematical skills. It is not really being a case of being odd, it is a case of each student being different & that is okay!

Dear Dave:

We have U. S. Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey commenting on the increase in cyber crimes since technology is so prevalent now to a group of potential FBI recruits.

"Cybercrime is becoming everything in crime. Again, because people have their entire lives connected to the internet, that's where those who want to steal money or hurt kids or defraud go. So it's an epidemic for reasons that make sense."

Pencil Me In

November XXIXth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I find it annoying at employment centres the staff only provided ink pens for clients & job seekers to work with. Clearly some of the people would prefer to work with pencils so they can erase mistakes rather than just cross them out. Students have to use both in schools, why not use both in the school setting of applying for a job?

Sandwiches Are Tasty & Healthy

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

November XXIXth, MMXVI

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I myself enjoy sandwiches. It is not just about the ingredients, but fresh bread, crisp vegetables, & quality condiments are all very important aspects to a sandwich. I myself have stopped eating french fries & prefer instead to eat a salad or a bowl of soup, which ironically are not just better for students, but also more filling.
