Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA-Elect, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

In honour of the Los Angeles Fire Department & Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & his new disaster film: "San Andreas" (which I saw in glorious AVX 3D at a local Cineplex (TM) theatre last night), we turn to Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department for a comment on the importance of police, fire, & other first responders. The men & women who lay their lives down on the line in regular times, & in emergencies such as the scenario of an earthquake in Los Angeles on the San Andreas Fault (which will occur in real life) & in Nevada & San Francisco. Here we face many suicides of these fine folks, as do many other jurisdictions & these fine people must be given respect for the high level of stress they endure daily. Plus, the Sarge & other law enforcement officials won't tolerate crimes like rape & murder even in a disaster situation as good governance must come first.

"Let me say, people like me, who work for the law, will not tolerate the crime that occurs in your neighborhood, street or anywhere. If something goes wrong in your city, we'll be on our way to help you."

"California Dreamin'",

Rory
