Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative Candidate, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

For Detective Joe Friday of the Los Angles Police Department, another look into school safety. Students or educators on campus or in a school setting need to stay calm & relaxed after say being robbed in order that they open up to police & start thinking more clearly. So on a case where thieves have cause injuries in a school, Joe opens up about the need for this "calming effect" to take place quickly. Give the victims something to do like watch a film, or read a magazine to distract them from their stress. This is the same thing politicians need to do in a crisis. For instance when Premier Ralph Klein was faced with a deficit crisis he acted by holding up a sign to calm Albertans fears that read "paid in full."

"That's good. People need to be entertained, need the distraction."

Thinking "Outside The Box" Hey Joe?,

Rory

Maybe the police need to be a little more calm and relaxed -- and not blow so many people away.
