October XIXth, MMXIV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow Byelection Candidate As Unelected

Dear Gordon:

Serving as the Chancellor of Queen's University after he left office: Prime Minister Robert L. Borden really was on an education kick. He had "street smarts" as he led the Dominion Of Canada through the dark days of WWI with a coalition of MPs from different party's to ensure freedoms were protected for humanity. As a result, the Prime Minister could give valuable insights into how horrible war is in terms of its price. As well, how we don't want to fight, but will have to (sadly sending in many students who will come back in body bags) in order to bring peace.

"In this country we are a peace loving people, & great tasks lie before us in the peaceful development of our resources. We have no lasting quarrel with the German people, who have great qualities & whose achievements in every area of human progress are conspicuous, although they are temporarily misled by the militarism of Prussia; but we will fight to the death against the vain attempt of an arrogant militarist oligarchy to impose upon the world its ideals of force & violence & to achieve its unworthy purpose by "blood & iron.""
