The Student Sayings Of Joe Friday On Fridays From Los Angeles, California Case Sixty-Seven

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Beverly Crest Hotel Courtesy Computer, Edmonton, Alberta

October XXXIst, MMXIV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA-Elect, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Pulled out of Auto Theft & working a swing shift beat patrol/homicide assist detail instead on Halloween afternoon due to an extreme shortage of officers in Homicide b/c of all the early Halloween party's the night beIV, Detective Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department has a coyote problem. A dead female victim has been found on the side of a hill being eaten by coyotes in broad daylight. This shows true desperation as there hunters generally operate at night. It turns out that the victim was a well known prostitute who some other working girls said was a mother as well, however they didn't know her name, plus with two-three days decomposition its harder to get id like fingerprints off the body as its been chewed up. As a result of this, prostitute or not, rich or poor, Det. Friday is having a hard time establishing an identity for her, this of course is frustrating as it delays the proper start of an investigation!

"She deserves better than Jane Doe."

Dear Gordon:

If there is one thing folks cannot accuse the Hon. Steven Fletcher, PC, MP of: its sitting down on the job! Paralyzed from the neck down in an automobile accident, Steven shows students & all Canadians that being a paraplegic shouldn't prevent a person from running IV & serving in Canada's Parliament, or any legislative body. Wanting to showcase the fact that a lot of politicians are considered "brain-dead" & useless by Canadians, Steven turns inII a stand-up comic & points out that while his body doesn't work, he still has excellent brain function, & that function allowed him to serve as a cabinet minister for a time & contribute his smarts to governance & crafting legislation that would make life better for all disabled Canadians.

"I would rather be paralyzed from the neck down than the neck up."

Dear Gordon:

While I respectfully disagree with the decision of "the people" to not elect at least one opposition MLA-Elect, I truly congratulate you in your victory in Calgary-Elbow. I also congratulate the Hon. As a person with over XCV% (95%) in all of my social studies & history courses, I am a true student of politics. Whether I agree with the decision of voters, I must believe in the old axiom of the Right Honourable Sir Winston S. Churchill, PC, Conservative when it comes to elections. Upon his defeat by Labour in MCMXLV (1945), Churchill wasn't bitter, he just said: "trust the people." So, we must do that here.

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow Byelection Candidate As Unelected

Dear Gordon:

Unlike the current occupant of The White House from Illinois, you could respect President Abraham Lincoln. Running a nation in the midst of a bitter IV (4) year Civil War (although how any war that killed 800,000+ people & counting can be deemed "civil" is beyond me) couldn't have been easy. A self-taught lawyer who had very little education when growing up, President Lincoln knew that there was no time to piss around over getting rid of slavery & trying to stop as many young people from dying as possible & he had to fight his War Cabinet hard when they were arguing about how to deal with those slave loving bastards in the Confederacy. Many whose sons & daughters were dying just like Union citizens were of both war &/or disease. Just like Prime Minister Steve Harper, PC, MP, Conservative, Calgary-Southwest showed great leadership in the crisis of the II soldiers deaths this past week, the President showed great leadership & put his foot down to stop any more screwing around because so many folks were being sent to the slaughter on both sides, including underage child soldiers who would never get a chance to get an education! The III (3) words he used to do it were rather wise!

"NOW, NOW, NOW!"

Rory

Source: XVIth President Of The United States Of America Abraham Lincoln, Republican & National Union-Illinois.

Editor's Note: On his IInd run IV President in MDCCCLXIV (1864), President Lincoln ran under the National Union banner with his choice for Vice-President, Senator Andrew Johnson, Democratic-Tennessee as a coalition party of Republicans & Democrats who favoured ramping up the war & destroying slavery at all costs! Senator Johnson was the only Southern Senator to have stayed loyal to the Union & not quit the American government. Thus he brought in Southern votes for a Lincoln-Johnson Presidential Ticket from states that had slavery leanings but had not seceded from the Union.

October XXIVth, MMXIV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow Byelection Candidate As Unelected

Dear Gordon:

A X (10) year old girl has come inII the Los Angeles Police Department Main Station downtown. She is there to report that both she & her grandpa had been beaten up & robbed, with all of their household furnishings & valuables stolen after they took the beating. They live alone & so both the little girl & her frail grandfather were quite agitated. Part of the job any law enforcement officer is keep the person or persons in peril calm & relaxed & Sergeant Joe Friday & his shift partner Officer Bill Gannon have II do so here. Its just like the shooting & vehicular deaths of those fine Canadian Army soldiers in Ottawa & Quebec this week, the police &/or armed forced must work in tandem II get the victim's statement as quickly & as calmly as possible. So the Sarge is just ever so extra polite with this young lady, as well as extra courteous. He treats her like she's the "centre of attention" & speaks to her just like as if she was an adult witness, so as to show proper respect for her as a person & her & her grandpa's general well-being. In this way, he can get her to be stable & calm enough in matter so that she can properly use her cognitive skills to state the basic factoids of the incident.

Serving as the Chancellor of Queen's University after he left office: Prime Minister Robert L. Borden really was on an education kick. He had "street smarts" as he led the Dominion Of Canada through the dark days of WWI with a coalition of MPs from different party's to ensure freedoms were protected for humanity. As a result, the Prime Minister could give valuable insights into how horrible war is in terms of its price. As well, how we don't want to fight, but will have to (sadly sending in many students who will come back in body bags) in order to bring peace.

"In this country we are a peace loving people, & great tasks lie before us in the peaceful development of our resources. Its committee time once again & Pierre Dionne Labelle, MP is focusing on minority francophone language rights as well as making sure that as many students as possible who want to be bilingual, or even multilingual can be so.

"You talked about the need to support the francophonie in all areas: culture, education, health & the media. French services specifically are absorbing half of all the cuts in the Crown corporation (CBC/Radio Canada.) In your view, what impact will these cuts have on your community?"

As a former leader of the Liberal Party Of Canada & Her Majesty's Loyal Official Opposition, the Hon. Stephane Dion, PC, MP proves that her doesn't think he is above others. Dear Gordon:

As Assistant Deputy Speaker, Barry Devolin, MP has to remain absolutely neutral when he is sitting in the Speaker's Chair as opposed to in the caucus benches with his Conservative colleagues. This is why I have to place his picture in the dead centre here as opposed to the right. Barry is explaining to students a Speaker's role in democratic debate.

"The Speaker gets to control who gets to speak. Its like a batting order that's agreed on at the beginning of the new government when we have a new bill."

Anne-Marie Day, MP is backing a bill to protect the rights of transit & light rail transit operators & prevent/protect them from assaults who have to deal with the public & try to keep their passengers safe, this would of course include students of all ages & demographics who are on the way to & from their educational institutions.

"These individuals are more vulnerable because they drive longer hours than most people, their profession requires them to be behind the wheel at all times & they always have to deal with the public, which includes people who are nice & not so nice, even criminals. This is gracious of Don as he is arguing for a Quebec family when he himself is a British Columbia based MP.

"Mr. Fuh Cham, his wife & III (3) young children have been active community members in LaSalle, specifically the Saint Jean Brebeuf Church, for VII (7) years. They are facing imminent deportation to Cameroon, where they face grave risk of persecution because of their Christian faith."

"It is essential that we also remember the strength, love & resolve shown by the families of those who served in Afghanistan. To the mothers & fathers, wives, husbands, sisters & brothers, daughters & sons, family & friends who have supported their loved ones during dangerous deployments & who have sacrificed family time so they could serve, & especially those who lost loved ones during the deployment of our Canadian Armed Forces-our Nation also joins together to honour you on this day."

Dear Gordon:

Retiring MP, Joe Comartin, MP of the New Democratic opposition finds it incredibly frustrating the lack of decorum in the House Of Commons chamber & the lack of respect that government & opposition MPs show one another when they heckle & berate eachother. Its embarrassing IV any students walking inII watch in the parliamentary public gallery, or watching on tv, or their chosen laptop or other electronic device. Joe also dislikes the fact that cabinet ministers will not answer the questions put to them in the Commons, but be happy to do so to reporters (whom the last I checked are not elected officials) outside the Commons. So Joe expresses this to reporters himself in a "scrum" format or exchange, coincidentally, outside the Commons.

Dear Gordon:

As always with great Newfoundland & Labradorians, Ryan Cleary, MP is concerned about his province's fishery. With only an VIII (8) day window IV (4) fall fishing & with inclement weather, Ryan wants the Tory government to extend the fishery window so that families can  earn more money by catching the fish they couldn't get due to the poor weather conditions. Arguably, this makes great sense as the parents of students & the students themselves participate in the fishing trade. So putting their safety Ist (1st) when the boats face many dangerous weather threats seems very reasonable indeed.
