Dimanche Avec Premier Ministres-Mackenzie Bowell

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

September XXVIIIth, MMXIV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, No Constituency As Unelected

Dear Gordon:

Prime Minister Mackenzie Bowell believed all citizens had the right to an equal start in life on the educational front. As an editor & newsman by vocation, he definitely believed in increased freedoms for the press as well.

"I hope the time is fast approaching in Canada when we shall never hear the question raised of a man's birth, or the creed he professes. We live in a country & under a constitution in which every man has a right to act as his judgment dictates, or as his education leads him, upon matters of this very important character."

Had II Face The Troublesome Manitoba Schools Question,

Rory

Perhaps the kindest thing that can be said of Mackenzie Bowell is that he resigned quickly. Sort of like our illustrious XIVth Former Madam Premier.
