Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

June XXth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

In cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department & its officers, Sergeant Joe Friday & Officer Frank Smith, California State officials are offering free tuition for entry level college courses and books & other learning materials to students of a lesser means who are picking up weapons off the street which can not only be harmful II them, but II others as well. Many of these students are picking up guns and other weaponry off the street left over from gang wars and then selling them for cash &/or drugs. By offering the free tuition its hoped by the Sgt. & Off. Smith that the students will turn over a new leaf and go into a learning institution & become productive citizens instead of turning onto a criminal path. Unlike the illegal gun seizure by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) a year ago in High River & ordered by then Madam Premier Alison M. Redford, QC, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow, this is an up front and voluntary turning in of weapons by the public to the police IV honest & ethical reasons. Sgt. Friday is hopeful that many students will turn away from violence & turn in their guns in exchange for the free education & tells Off. Smith of his hopes.:

"The odds are in our favour Frank, its worked before."

From Arrest II Verdict,

Rory
