Dear Jeff:

It can be quite a "challenge" for students taking insurance courses, as well as those looking for student intern slots at reputable insurance firms & brokers. The insurance industry, like any industry has many ups & downs. The key is, agents & brokers are here for you, the customer, whether you are a student or not. Tips for finding a good placement:

A. Talk to folks through word of mouth & networking for places & firms that have a quality reputation IV teaching their students well in an "on the job & practical" sense.

B. Ask family & friends if you can talk to their broker about a placement, perhaps even giving you a reference letter.

C. Be sure to show the insurance firms/agencies/brokers that your grades in classes related to the industry are of a high % figure to truly showcase your interest.

D. Be on time to your placement, ask lots of questions, take it upon yourself to read any reading materials the firm you are working for gives you to look at.

The Space Shuttle "Challenge"r,

Rory
