The Student Sayings Of Joe Friday On Fridays From Los Angeles, California Case Thirty-Two

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

February XXVIIIth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

A jewellery salesman has engineered the robbery of his partner IV some of his uncut diamonds that he has just imported. What's really bad is that has enlisted the help of a XIX (19) year old college student desperate for cash to pay for his education. The student is an orphan & so has no parents II help him. He even gave the student a gun with which to commit the robbery. Talk about being a bad influence on youth. The suspect gives Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department a choice, either "book him or let him go" since they in his mind don't have enough evidence against him. To which Sgt. Friday retorts:

"That's fair your giving us a choice. You made a bad bluff Mister because we're booking you in."

Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

February XXVIIth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA
Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

So three thieves In Grande Prairie had the good sense to put kidnapped VII (7) month old baby girl Addison on the porch of a rural home when they realized they had kidnapped her upon stealing a truck. Thank goodness she is safe? Poor little thing having to be out in cold weather like that. What does it say about the mindset of these idioitic thieves when they enlist the help of a XIV (14) year old student in their crimes?

Just Terrible,

Rory

February XXVIth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA
Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

I would like to personally commend the Hon. Alison M. Redford, QC, MLA, Premier of Alberta, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow. She has taken it upon herself to occasionally conduct safety checks of bathrooms in bars & restaurants, such as Calgary's palatial "Wurst Restaurant & Bar." The idea that the Head of Her Majesty's Government would go in & do these safety checks in restaurant & bar bathrooms across Alberta is absolutely remarkable. I like it b/c she is seeing that the checks that are being conducted by management & staff are up to proper provincial standards. In this way, she is being encouraging to custodians & students studying to be in the custodial & hospitality trade II make sure the bathrooms where they work are up to the highest safety standards at all times: such as in special events like the extra bar hours opened for the Canada vs. Sweden Gold Medal hockey game! Plus, as Premier, she can make sure that health & safety inspectors are coordinating bathroom safety & cleanliness in a proper manner!

Dear Jeff:

Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department has just arrested a teenage boy for possessing illegal narcotics known as "sugar cubes" or "acid." February XVIIIth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

As I suffer from a genetic default in the brain due to my Aspberger's Syndrome causing my brain to run fast, I occasionally see an autism psychiatrist at Yeg Mental Health. I am therefore an expert in the area of being concerned for post-secondary students & the mental health of students in general. This is why I can appreciate superb writing on mental health issues. So I must acknowledge the excellent work of The Edmonton Journal & its stellar reporter Keith Gerein in his investigation of these matters in today's paper. The problems really stem from the death of Dr. J. Marnie Hinton, MD, Psych. last year. She was what 78 and coordinated things for the entire province for patients still. Truly a great human being & doctor. I had so much respect for her, I went to her funeral, hopefully her students can pick up the slack & get other students on the right track to proper mental health function.

Wishing,

The Student Sayings Of Joe Friday On Fridays From Los Angeles, California Case Thirty

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Riverbend Public Library Terminal #IX, Edmonton, Alberta

February XIVth, MMXIV

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

Today Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department is working the swing shift as an extra aide to Burglary/Robbery & Bodily Assault Division. In keeping with the fact that it is Saint Valentine's Day, Sgt. Friday wants to ensure that citizens are safe as they celebrate the occasion with parties, dinners, etc. The Sarge is coordinating squad car detail & as such has to sit in the passenger seat of a squad car himself so he can talk with police headquarters & other cars by radio in order to keep the streets safe & help in the pursuit with their cars as backup if Sgt. Friday needs them. He is in pursuit of a violent armed robbery & assault suspect, the suspect now in an escape vehicle having just robbed & beaten a retired teacher & her husband who were having a combined retirement & Saint Valentine's Day supper at a local Los Angeles eating establishment. The Sgt. has a rather excellent sense of directional knowledge & is calling in his pursuit path. Thus, other squad cars & cops walking the streets near the path can keep members of the public safe & out of the way in those areas until the suspect is captured or if necessary killed.

Dear Jeff:

I had a dr's appointment at 10:15AM today, which my dr's staff scheduled at their request, & the dr. had a 10AM appointment waiting for him there as well. Both me & the other appointment got there about 9:15AM in order to ensure we would both be seen on time. The dr. called the clinic at 10:30AM to say he wouldn't be there until 1PM after all, his excuse was that "he had slept in." So he hadn't worked yesterday or the day before, he wasn't tired & thereIV well rested. So students hoping to be medical office staff learn to be extra courteous to patients who are stressed. B/c this dr. WASTED MY TIME!

Why book the appointments if you are not going to show? I don't even know why the dr. wanted to c me as it was at their request, I got up early on my day off & everything. Dr's charge the government if patients don't show up, or for cancelled appointments if its less than II hours notice. I should be able to charge this dr. say $50.00 for wasting my time & have it come out of his own pocket & not the province's. My dr. is an immigrant, lets ship him back to his country of origin if he can't honour his commitments. Student dr. trainees, please be more courteous than this arrogant prick!

Dear Jeff:

It can be quite a "challenge" for students taking insurance courses, as well as those looking for student intern slots at reputable insurance firms & brokers. The insurance industry, like any industry has many ups & downs. The key is, agents & brokers are here for you, the customer, whether you are a student or not. Tips for finding a good placement:

A. Talk to folks through word of mouth & networking for places & firms that have a quality reputation IV teaching their students well in an "on the job & practical" sense.

B. Ask family & friends if you can talk to their broker about a placement, perhaps even giving you a reference letter.

C. Be sure to show the insurance firms/agencies/brokers that your grades in classes related to the industry are of a high % figure to truly showcase your interest.

D. Be on time to your placement, ask lots of questions, take it upon yourself to read any reading materials the firm you are working for gives you to look at.

In a bid to give a boost to Michigan, which I've visited & is a great State, today's fascinating set of factoids comes from our great border State friend.

Y. Windsor, Ontario is south geographically of Detroit, Michigan. So to enter the mainland United States at this particular border checkpoint, Canadians must travel north instead of the usual south.

Z. Nicknames for Michigan include "The Great Lakes State" & "The Wolverine State." Note: This should make Wolverine of Marvel Comics Enterprises (TM) "The X-Men" very pleased.
