Dear Jeff:

I think if Steve Young, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Riverview had made his Mayoral Debate/Fundraiser a charity fundraiser instead, say for WIN House battered women's shelter or the Stollery Children's Hospital, the event could have gone ahead & the PC brand in Riverview wouldn't have been tarnished. Surely that would be a better example to show his kids & Edmonton students in general.

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA

Dear Jeff:

I just cannot fathom how much anguish the parents, family, friends, & staff at the school where the VI year old little boy was killed in St. Albert must be feeling. Also, the drive of the school bus must just be beyond devastated. Having taken high school courses through the Greater St. Albert Schools through St. Gabriel Cybernetic Outreach High School, I know how great the management, staff, & students of that school division are. I just hope & pray Mr. David Keohane & his reliable staffers can find out what happened so that the parents & family can have peace & closure.

Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

September XXIVth, MMXIII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA
Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

The concept of "fair play" in sports is hardly a new one. Students need to learn that a clean body check in hockey for instance is fair. As is a fight between two or more players who have consented with each other that they want to fight on the ice. But what's unacceptable is hits with intents to injure. Hits like the ones placed on Edmonton Oilers player Sam Gagne who had his jaw broken & his teammate Taylor Hall who took a serious head shot against the Vancouver Canucks in a pre-season match the other night.

It sure is exciting to hear that enrolment of students is up in the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) & other board districts across Alberta. Dear Jeff:

While I certainly applaud Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) Chairman Sarah Hoffman & the board's intiative in adding a high school student as a student trustee, I'd take it one step further. In order for this student trustee to be able truly be a democratic office holder, I propose that any high school student be able to run for the position & that they be voted in by all of the Edmonton Public High School students who choose to vote. Then students & student trustees learn about democracy & accountability & the voting process all at the same time.

Dear Jeff:

On this most solemnly sad day of September XIth, the XIIth anniversary of the attacks on commercial passenger jets in America, the Edmonton Police Service is doing something that Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department would approve. They now let citizens & younger folks like students who see crimes to report them online from their home, a friend's, or a public computer with an internet portal. You can report lost property, theft, damage/mischief to property, theft from a vehicle under $5,000.00, & damage/mischief to a vehicle under $5,000.00.
