Dear Jeff:

While I agree that your policy in Alberta Education of an Attendance Board makes sense, sometimes students may not actually be skipping school. If a student(s) is/are suspected of truancy, then all efforts should be made II find out why they are absent. There are reasons such as a medical impairment, or perhaps say a sudden death of a family member wherein the student(s) parent/guardian has IVgotten II call the school II pull them out of class. Say IV example they are under so much stress that they just forget II call the school b/c of the multiple emergency decisions they have to make on a sudden contingency basis. Its definitely a situation Jeff where you have II strike a balance.
