Dear Jeff:

Watching films about gambling & casinos, & what people who run them have II go through on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) all night, I was quite struck at all the different stresses & personalities & contingencies that must be faced on a daily basis. Including watching "Any Number Can Play" with Academy Award (TM) Winner Clark Gable from Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) Studios in MCMXLIX's (1949's) superb film about Gable's character running a casino, & just how stressful it can be on a person, as well as their family life.

Students such as the new Athabasca University MBA graduates need II remember that if they want II get inII the gambling & hospitality industry that ity can be both very rewarding & stressful. You have II make the casino money from the customers, lets face it, the games maybe by chance, but IV the most part they are frigged IV the house II win. You want customers II keep coming back, but as a responsible manager/employee of a casino, you must make sure to stop problem customer(s) from becoming too addicted to the machines & tables that they might do anything II win. Including perhaps harming themselves &/or others, a sad way II just get a few bucks.

Strike A Balance,

Rory
