Ministerial Transparency & Fairness At All Governing Levels

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #203, 8912-156 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5R 5Z2

December IXth, MMXI

Hon. Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Castledowns

Dear Thomas:

So in its infinite wisdom, the Federal NDP Opposition did something wise today. It did what I have been advocating IV years & introduced a Private Member's Motion so that we could have a Secretary of State IV Education, or a Minister of State (Education.) I have said this IV years & asked my MP Laurie Hawn about it & other politicos. They just tap dance around the issue & pretend they are competent in their jobs & never reslly give a definitive answer, just brushing it off II bureaucrats.

Well I say why in the heck not? Health is a Provincial responsibility & yet we have a Federal Health Minister in the Hon. Leona Aglukkaq, PC, MP to oversee the Canada Health Act & make sure health transfer payments are doled out fairly & no 1 complains. So why don't we have a Federal Education Minister II provide guidance & to meet with students when they come to Parliament Hill so that they know they have a voice? Aboriginal Affairs is Federal turf, but you don't see Steve Harper complaining that Provincial Governments have appointed their own Provincial Aboriginal Affairs Ministers. These Provincial MLA's, MNA's, MPP's, & MHA's look after the needs of First Ntn's Peoples at the ground level II ensure ground level transparency.

So As You Can See A Federal Minister of Education Makes Sense,

Rory
