Dear David:

I was quite impressed upon playing in Abbotsfield Park last night, just immediately NE of Olde Towne Beverly. This area of the city is quite old, but the playground had been fixed up & murals painted on the equipment with bright & friendly colours. A slogan stating "our children are precious" was also clearly visible. At about 7:15pm, a group of adults & their kids walked through the park to make sure that the kids were safe & that their adult handlers were treating them with respect. Sort of a safe kids initiative, I was mightily impressed & mentioned that I lived in the west end. These folks were taking back their neighborhood, which has higher crime levels than some. By being present in early evenings (including on weekends) with random patrols, criminal elements are scared away & the kids & their parents &/or guardians can play out in the sun worry free. Just the way kids should play.

No Kidding Around,

Rory
