Dear David:

Here's a young lady who has overcome adversity & destruction. Losing her home to fire at Red Creek in May, Shandy Wogan won a MMXI Heritage Youth Researcher Summer Program spot. Now she's performing scientific wonders at the University of Alberta this summer. Feeding the science nerd in her cognitive life daily will help Shandy IVget about her troubles & focus on the positive & in rebuilding her life. I see Shandy is excited about all of the modern equipment she is using & how much more she can do with it. This modernesque treatment of science will allow her to do better at her new school, Peace River High School. Her focus this summer is on diabetes & how it relates to Vitamin D.

Her family, friends, & township folks of Red Earth have been supportive emotionally & financially. Her adult research colleagues treat her like a real adult & a real scientist, not just as a student. Talk about the ultimate sign of respect. Let us hope Shandy Wogan has a positive impact in whatever field(s) of science she chooses II practice in IV many years II come.

"My Chief Science Officer Mr. Spock",

Rory
