Recently, some Tennessee students were given XII (12) free books apiece, their choice as II the topics they chose. Well in the next school session, you wouldn't believe how much exponentially higher they were in terms of their assignments and test scores. The books in the summer solstice were just as valuable as if the kids had been performing assignments and tests in a classroom setting.
Kids can read magazines, play on the internet or read on their blackberries and cellphones. But there is absolutely no substitute for actual paper materials. "The literary culture still produces better students. Its better at distinguishing the important from the unimportant & making the important more prestigious."
